Warning: This blog is not for people with short attention spans, illiteracy, or a high risk of liver disease!
Actually, I’m joking about the liver disease thing. I’ve been working on some upgrades to my Discovering Hope blog. I’ve also put up a new post today, which I highly recommend you check out. There’s a new place on the right side of the page where you can sign up for email updates, which I hope some of you will use…It’s kind of sad that that blog has my best work, but nobody reads it.
I’ve also launched the podcast, gotten it hosted on podomatic.com, and gotten it approved and into the iTunes directory. Unfortunately, still working out issues with iTunes.
So be honest, here: if you actually do read my other blog, how often do you read more than the first two paragraphs before you get bored or distracted?
Working on an article about communion…hopefully, I’ll be able to finish that while I’m out of town next week. I’ll be leaving Friday and will be back the next weekend; then I leave again on January 1st and will return on the 5th (Passion Conference ’07, anyone?).

It’s a really nice site! I didn’t spend much time there but I like what I did get to see. I’ll make a point of stoping back by and taking a look when I have more time.
Later!!!
I have a lot to do tonite and tomorrow, but I’ll be back soon enough!! It’s my Christmas Break (YESSSSSS) and I’ll have free time galore.
To your comment, I mean that you write like my brother. He’s headed off to seminary after he graduates this May and some of the older stuff on his xanga, mostly over this summer when he had more time, is deep stuff. Check it out if you have a minute. He’s a HUGE discusser/debater but also only wants to keep it friendly. He’s really Bible-wise and extremely smart. You might enjoy talking to him.
His xanga is http://www.xanga.com/HeartForChrist
And he plays the guitar for the sole purpose of praise and worship.
But yeah. I think I did pretty good on midterms, irrelevant.
have a great day!!!

yeah, mine was from covenant too.
you have another blog????
If radical leftist groupies (Cough, Cough Hilary Clinton) come to power there is no way that the average American would stand for it, this is why that guy on the 400 club called for her assasination, or wait, was that the Argentinian dictator or Hilary Clinton? Never mind, I always get them confused. The point is that our government will never do anything to displease the citizens of our great country. They , politicians, will bend over backwards to keep just one person, group, or minority pleased. If I were a politician, I would try to please the lesser known and even lesser talked about, majority. Besides if the Majority is pleased why worry about the minority? They are called the minority for a reason. And i think that the greatest threat to America is politicians trying to please the minority while the majority remains unpleased, this will cause social chaos. Even the simple things like if an African-american called him getting the last parking space in his company’s parking lot racism and some politician made the guy in the first spot move or get sued, the guy would probably move but wouldn’t like it. If every person in our government did this every time racism was declared the majority would become angry, maybe to the point of revolt? That is the only way i see American citizens overthrowing the government. It has all ready become like this in many ways. Like if I were to use language that would offend a minority, they would call me a racist. But if a minority was to use language that would offend the majority, such as cracker, it wouldn’t be racist. So you see where i’m coming from.
1. I have a very short attention span. I’d bet money that I’d be diagnosed as ADHD. I’ve just never been tested.
2. I’ve prayed for hours about my decision. . . when I use the term thinking, it often means praying. . . I kind of think through things as I pray about them. I’m just so frusrated about the whole thing.
the second generation hispanic is what i was talking about. What about the words “Born in America” do you not get?
oh, and i enjoy politics
nice other blog. i really liked that food analogy, but it made me hungry.
Thanks Caleb! I found both of your blogs interesting, and look forward to reading more of your stuff
RYC: My ideal place to live would be a fairly metro area with easy access to remote mountains. I used to live in Rapid City, SD and it was perfect for this! Phoenix…? not so much. I love mountains and nature, but I’ve also got a thing for fancy restaurants, coffee shops, history, libraries, and old archetecture.
Lol, it is pretty random that my sister invaded your xanga to tell you about mine.
I haven’t been in any theological debates in a good while, mainly because of time constraints. That’s all I did all summer and then I go back to school and can’t do it at all. Even though we had heated debates, as I mentioned to my sister, there was really only one person that I engaged on your site that really got underneath my skin. And I don’t mind heated debates…. but it’s really difficult on xanga. I prefer a place with moderators and such so that people who rest on the premise that we will all act Christian, but don’t do it themselves, will be held accountable to the standard they expect of me. Also, the format is more debate friendly.
I may have already suggested it to you before, but go to http://www.carm.org and click on their discussion forums…. it’s a great place to learn and debate!
Thanks for dropping by, and I hope all is well with you Caleb!
I wanna go on a long trip right before my birthday!
please go to http://www.xanga.com/the_turbanator
whats passion conference? neways have fun.

if only…if only
and hey dude. I read your other post but I don’t have that google account thing. I really enjoyed it. I liked the parallels. Interesting that our need for Christ is so similar to our physical need for food. It isn’t something that we can choose to go without and still survive. It’s a good reminder of how dependant we are on Him. Anyway, I will certainly apply that to my life in the future. As I eat my hamburger, I will know I should be eating a steak.
Congratulations, I saw you first on TheTheologiansCafe’s site.
)
Cute warning
I’ll check it out.
I just came from Ronlawhouston’s site (http://www.xanga.com/ronlawhouston/557105279/organized-religion—ugh.html?nextdate=last)
and I was troubled by your remark about Jewish people. I don’t think God or Jesus would have made such comments, nor would He have made such distinctions as “us” and “them”. If you consider “why” Christ died, and who His teachings were intended to reach, you would see that all was done in the spirit of universal love and compassion. It saddens me to think what is being done and said in His name.
yeah I pretty much figured that out like right after I posted that comment.
merry CHRISTmas to you too! i hope it’s fantastic!
RYC: There are many cultures who believe there is no need for atonement in the sense you are thinking of simply because their relationship to God is different. Jesus as a Jew never spoke of atonement, only of love. Perhaps the one really is the other, only we may not fully realize it.
Sigh…where’s the enlightening new post? I need a new one daily, you know, or I’ll start to lose brain cells. I’m down to my last zillion. if I lose any more, I’ll have the IQ of an adverage person. (the horror) so you see my desperate need. I’m afraid you’re going to have to write something new quickly.
lol.
have you seen my new guitar? i put pictures on my blog.
So, what time on the 5th art thou returning?
the amp is 75 watts, why do you dislike strats?
haha. okay.
I can’t play video games…I run into the walls too often…heh…
It’s easy to say that now that I want the steak, but their are times when I forget that the burger isn’t going to fill. It is a good reminder to put on the whole armor of God so that we are able to stand our ground. If one part of the armor is missing then we are vulnerable to attack, and oh how easy it can be.
hellooo
Yeah, public speaking is diffucult for most people I think. And I try to encourage as much as possible, so to know that people appreciate it is very nice.
im not kidding whats passion conference haha
Well, I’ve got a high risk of liver disease, given my drinking habits.
Curses!
fun read!
yes i do its hott!! haha
i play guitar too!!!!!!
RYC: you appear to make a connection between atonement, faith in Jesus specifically, and the idea of an incomplete spiritual life for people of the Jewish persuasion. Your conclusion is subjective and while it is opinion, it is not necessarily fact. One might conclude that you are saying, the Jewish people do not have a legitimate faith or a legitimate covanent with God because their religious practice does not fall in line with your concept of what a spiritual life should be. Such a conclusion has sweeping implications on God’s creation. My ultimate conclusion is that God does not make mistakes, and He lives in all men at all times whether they know it or not. It is my contention that Jesus came to the world to shed light in the hearts of men to free them from their own actions which cause suffering. He was a good Jew, and His Jewishness only confirms that what God gave the Jewish people what they needed to be in relatedness to Himself.
Hey Caleb? Could you please call me? I’m feeling really bad and I’ve been watching 90′s movies on the couch all day, which is not really that fun after the first 2 or 3. lol. Anyway, you said you would call and I’ve been kinda hoping you would all day….
Gah!!! Stop playing video games, Caleb! I want a new post!
If you ask for it you can have it.
It’s just that we’d talked about doing something in these two days while you were here….is it too late now?
whoa, that totally was not supposed to happen.lol. …two more things…Why can’t you comment after 11? That doesn’t make much sense to me….and don’t you have free min. after 7 on weekdays and on weekends? Meesa very confuse-ed. :-/
RYC: Perhaps you need to have this conversation with a Jewish scholar. Will you? Many of your points are based conclusions that you’ve been taught. One might say that this is only second hand knowledge. My point ultimately is that if we are disagreeing on ideas about Judaism, or animal sacrifice or anything based on concepts alone, this is not enough to make broad statements about another person, let alone a whole group of people. Such concepts and actions have very little basis on the relationship another human being has with his creator. Many of the tragedies in this world have been the result of people with concepts acting upon the lives of others, and without the full knowledge based on experience. On my island for example, in the 15th century Christianity in the form of Catholicism virtually wiped out the population and an ancient culture because men with canons, guns, and concepts thought my people needed to be saved. (I wonder if they even bothered to ask them what their relationship to God was). But this is an old story, and today we live in an age of information and posses the ability to full experience many different countries, cultures, and peoples of the world.
There is a saying, “the more you know, the more you know that you don’t know”. This is a great wisdom that teaches us to know our own Self, and others, and love them as Christ ( or any great figure we embrace) would have us do. “Love thy neighbor as thyself”. This is a great teaching that spans many religions and cultures an is ancient indeed.
It is not my intention to be cross with you. On the contrary, I have concluded that you are a very bright young man. I speak from experience when I say that to fully embrace Christ as I believe you do, you must not wed yourself only to what you have been told or what you have read. You must “Love God with all your might, and your neighbor as your own Self “. The world is vast and complex, and beyond our understanding. On the spiritual road there are many pitfalls and dangers, and God will test you and your convictions to be sure. He did this to his disciples, to St. Paul, and many people from many different religions all over the world spanning oceans of time. My message really is this, be open to experiences and be cautious with ideas. Ideas will only point thy way for you, but experiences will change your life forever. This is how God is in relatedness to you and others, and His ways are truly mysterious.
will you go out with me??
kasey
RYC: only because they’re either french or pronounce the silent ‘s’.
