  • I Need Me Some Edumacation

Covenant College, where I’m planning to go in 17 days, just sent me a letter saying I owe a ridiculous amount of money.

The odds of me actually getting enough any money from people clicking that button and giving me money are almost as ridiuclous as the amount of money I owe.

  • well, I just got an error from paypal, so if everyone gets that then you’re most deffinantly not getting any money from anyone.

can I write you a check?

  • Well, Caleb, you know I’d be glad to give you money (a very small amount, of course) for your high-priced private college if I didn’t have my own high-priced private college to siphon away my funds. I thought you were a national merit scholar; doesn’t that qualify you for some hefty scholarships?

  • hhahaha…they did that to me too, but the hope and the Pell and the FASFA stuff won’t come in until August 14th…does that help your feelings?

  • And I can’t give you no money, I’m broke.

  • I’d love to give you money.

Too bad I have the same problem. . . fortunately, I have a year to solve it.

  • Here’s how everybody else can help me make money for college:

Go click the ads on http://discoveringhope.blogspot.com

That way Google can help me pay for my college!

  • Ditto Corinne’s comment.  It’s all fun and games until you get that first statement.

  • Go to school with me! Indiana Wesleyan is cheaper and better help with scholarships. :D

  • Yes I’m serious! My mom always told me a was 1 in a Million.

  • Well, Here’s how I look at it….

look at “smart”….What defines smart…being right, right? Or at least getting the closest to it that is possible given the choices available. So therefore “smart” is tied to knowledge of the truth. In current culture, however, there are so many subjective “truths” that the general opinion would be that truth, and therefore knowledge of it (smartness), is subjective.

So one answer would be that thoughtfulness beats smartness because without thoughtfulness there would be no way to understand what you percieve to be “truth”.

Another answer would be that relativism aside, smartness, or..”knowledge of the truth” could only be accessed by one road, one train of thought, and is not subjective to the individual. Therefore, I suppose it would beat “thoughtfulness” in being the end result, and not just the wandering quest. So in that case, “smartness” would win.

Those are the two immediate answers that came to mind…I’m sure there are more.

But yeah, they are linked…but they can’t be the same thing…..at least not unless you look at a a certain kind of “thoughtfullness” and “smartness”…like..

Supposed someone was a very thoughtful cook, but was terrible in school…..ect.

It’s sort of an “open for interpretation” kind of question.

  • And yet he said in the movie before that one… “Great shot, kid, that was one in a million!”

  • Caleb, seeing as we are in the same situation (I will be attending a private university in the fall) I unfortunately cannot help you.

RYC: I often think of the faith Abraham had, especially when God instructed him to use his only son as an offering to God. I like what you wrote, yeah I’m waiting on my Isaac hoping not to produce an Ishmael’s along the way!!!!!

Where do you plan to attend school in the fall?

  • I’ve gotta get me one of those “make a donation” buttons.

  • RYC: Gee, thanks. I’ll give you 10 percent of whatever people give me. ;)

  • Online panhandling, haha.

    Scholarships, woo!
