I won’t be mad if they read this and fire me.
So, I like my job at Chik-Fil-A. It’s certainly not the best paid, and certainly not easy sometimes, but overall the people are great and it’s gratifying. They’re also really reasonable when it comes to scheduling issues — that is, until Al took over scheduling. Yesterday, I told him I needed to be off at 2 on Tuesday for a dentist appointment. “Well, how about you stay until 3?” What?!? I have a dentist appointment at 2! How the heck could I stay until 3? I did finally work that one out, though, no thanks to Al’s understanding and helpful attitude.
Then this came up. I called in tonight to find out my hours for my last two days of work, hoping I’d be off one of those days. No luck. Worse, I’m working a 12-hour shift on Monday:
5:15 AM – 5:00 PM.
I’ve never so seriously considered just skipping work. What’s the worst they could do? Fire me on my last day?

Maybe this is why Al is doing this to you. Maybe you are being tested also…and if your life is anything like mine…I’m always being tested. I pretty much stink at tests such as those!!!
How did you fare at the dentist?
RYC: The American Heart Association changed it’s recommendations on premedication (the antibiotic before dental work). You can view it at http://www.ada.org from there you will have to search because I don’t know exactly where it is.
Best to take your antibiotic, especially if your physician says you need it.
Sorry to hear about your boss, especially not caring about people, too bad he doesn’t see the best investment is people not money.
I love the food at Chik-Fil-A. Sorry to hear about the scheduling problems. I hope things work out for you. (Hey, this is all planned by God anyway, isn’t it? I had to throw that in there.)

I know how you feel. I loved my job, but I was so ready to quit once I was at the end. Just push through, its almost over.
How’s school coming? What are you going to do?
as a rule of thumb, any job you have before college you probably won’t cite for a phonecall reference anyways. i’d be tempted to do a no-show too.
blasted work ethic of mine.
RYC: you got me. i’ll go ahead and leave it wrong though. did you wikipedia it, or catch that off the top of your head?
say you thought it was a mistake and misread it…
I’d tell Al that a 12 hour shift this late in the summer is impossible because you’re getting ready for college and have way too much to do.
not showing up would be a nonsurprising thing from the world’s point of view… hopefully you can follow the of a different drum… living life differently as a citizen of heaven, if such you consider yourself… ‘let your light so shine before men that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father who is in heaven…’ that one last remembrance of you your coworkers may carry with them for the rest of their lives as an illustration of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, even if you never see them again…
show up… you don’t want to have two jobs that you were fired from because of not showing up… i would go, and ask if maybe you can leave early… but show them you are a diligent and faithful worker and go to work
next week you are off to work study, which is much easier to skip… except them you don’t get paid… oh for a salaried position right?
Haha, I wasn’t trying to avoid the question – just trying to condense my view of God in three words, heheh.
I have a dual-core laptop, but the GPU leaves something to be desired. I’m looking to invest in a high-powered desktop, preferably with a dual-monitor setup just for this game. Sweetness.
Yeah, I don’t know how he did it either…the weird thing was it didn’t really hurt (well, except when I accidentally put hand sanitizer on and got it in the cut) but it left a huge scar!
By the way, it is not true about not citing your pre collage jobs. it may surprise you, but things like a year working at McDonald’s is impressive to most employers. Lots of well educated people out there, but how many of them will come to work everyday and not quit over the work being unpleasant at times? That is what a job at a fast food restaurant proves. It proves for know how to work.

It is good to see that the first sentence was not a curse but a blessing.
Haha! That’s hilarious. Unfortunately, I would fear I would actually end up carving out someone’s heart with a spoon. Some of my friends are quite … facebook-oriented, we’ll say.
dang… thats just moronic…
well, 12 hours work is 12 hours pay… tis up to you..
fyi-
this is true.
I suppose I should add that to my list of good things? then it will have three items. what a list!
Ewww that’s the suckage. Boooo. gross.
Okay, so, I was reading your comments on Dan’s site, and I decided we’re getting married. Let me know if you have any objections. kthxbye.
Ron Paul seems to be an honest politician who stands by what he believes, and I greatly respect him for that. The problem is that I don’t agree with all of his views. He seems focused on America and becoming less involved on the world stage economically and politically. That would be devastating to our country because you have to be involved with other countries to survive. Just take a look at clothing tags to see all the countries where our clothes are made. You should check out the book “The World is Flat” by Thomas Friedman.
Sorry to hear about your 12 hours shift. That really sucks. I get pretty mad when I have to stay 10 hours at mine. I hate to think about what 12 hours would do to me.
RYC: I got your note on my website. Admittedly, I didn’t pay much attention to your comment on Theologians’ page because you had addressed it to “ignorant Christians,” which I feel is untrue (and offensive, but I gather that was your intent). Even if you meant it in a relative sense, which I cannot qualify the validity of such a statement, I find the insult unnecessary. I see that we have different perspectives, and I am willing to respect your personal perspective. Please be willing to respect mine.
I responded to your comment on Theo’s page. Please try to keep this civil. I’m not going to continue if this becomes a flame war. I dont want to waste your time, and I certainly don’t want to waste mine.
Hope you have a good day.

Hey I appreciate your comment on the name of God!
Deanna
RYC: Thanks for coming by and thanks for the comment.
Have a blessed day.
so, what’d you like most about P’07? I had Chick-Fil-A for the first time when I went there
i’d never heard of chik-fil-a until i read your blog.
is it good?
Hey, saw your comment on thetheologianscafe. Please read mine there (it’s on the first page), as you clearly have no idea what you were talking about.
RYC: We are all ignorant.
Your first statement is an attack. Your second statement is a blanket statement covering all mankind. Most people will take offense from an attack, including me. But I let it go long enough that I could write a response, as politely as I could manage. Please don’t try to go back and cover up your attack by laying this blanket statement, because your original intention clearly was to insult me and correct my way of thinking. “Please read mine… as you clearly have no idea what you were talking about.” Clearly, this is a direct comparison between your ideology and mine, where you assign my opinions and contributions as worthless. Let’s just accept that you were rude and move on. As for me, I am done with this matter.
For the subject matter at hand:
Your comment:
I don’t really understand how you can say “I see that we have different perspectives.” I wasn’t talking about perspectives; I was talking about facts. The fact is, Allah is the Arabic name for God. Do you object to Hispanic people calling God “Dios?” If not, there’s really no reason to object to the Arabic name for God, either.
My comment (from Theos cafe):
While calling God Allah, is technically the same thing, it carries a cultural connotation that cannot be separated. It is my opinion, and I respectfully disagree from yours, that we should be careful to make that distinction.
So to flesh this out some more, I don’t think it harms the person nor does it harm their relationship with God to call Him Allah. Christians in the Middle East who call God Allah are not sinning nor are they offending God. However, when a priest in the Western world starts saying we should call God Allah just to appease the Muslims, then it gets confusing. There is a cultural connotation with the word Allah. If I started preaching Allah to my friends, they would be confused because they would think I converted. If I went on the street and said “Praise Allah,” people would think I’m a Muslim and maybe even a terrorist. Surely, all of these problems I am mentioning will go away if people were to be educated to the meaning of the word Allah. But until that happens, the cultural connotations of the word Allah still rules the majority, and using the word in place of God will only cause confusion and stir up trouble.
So to clarify our two different perspectives – we both agree that Allah means God, and that they can be used interchangeably. Your perspective: This is ok. My perspective: I wouldn’t do it. There are other names of God that are more important and meaningful. I would rather focus on educating my friends about those names – the God of peace, the God of provision, the Almighty God…. These names mean more to them than Allah alone. Educating my friends about these names means I am educating them about the character of God.
Again, I agree that Allah and God mean the same thing. If you feel that this is important for you to educate people about how all things Arabic are not muslim, please, by all means, continue to do so. Who am I to judge what God has placed on your heart to do? As for me, I have my own burdens to bear, and I am choosing to fight different battles than you.
We are both brothers in Christ. Let’s end this amiably.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
In Christ,
Alban
Hey, I told my boss to go…well, anyway. And I’m not fired! I’m merely being put on the crap work detail for a couple of works. Joyous. Court duty and taking three thousand pages of notes for lawyers. ROXX0RZ.
And those chords are?????
It’s soooo exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope that you’ll be able to get all that done super fast so you can have a little chill time.
Thanks! We’re going to try to get everything loaded but if we can’t figure it out I may take you up on that.
Yes that is much better, that other stuff is so prone to being acidic
I forgot what that was for a minute, it has been a while since i was taking chemistry
You said over on TheologiansCafe that Jesus’ name was pronounced “e-eh-soos” in Hebrew. Actually, that’s Greek for Jesus(iota-eta-sigma-omicron-upisolon-sigma). Jesus’ Hebrew name was probably Yehoshua. I don’t know the Hebrew alphabet

its a “this or that” question…
are God’s designs more scientifically discernible, and possible to grasp through logic and reason.. or are are they enigmatic, impossible to comprehend, depending entirely on faith to be accepted..
Yay! Thanks for praying!
I know; occasionally the thought occurs to me while I’m praying that I’m talking to the guy who MADE me, MADE the world, and can control any of it with a blink of His eye. It makes me want to be much more fluent in what I say. . .then the realization that he really doesn’t care; he just wants me to talk to him [GOD wants ME to talk to HIM!], hits me, and my brain wants to explode with the implications!
I’m trying to get off caffeine; it hasn’t been too successful. That’s probably the cause of the headache. I may just have to cave and get some.
